New TGS Road Safety Program

The Toyota Gibraltar Stockholdings (TGS) Road Safety Program provides a systematic approach to road safety training, with a focus on inter-agency collaboration and creating sustainable capacity. This is a unique approach building on the former UN Road Safety Programme that was designed for humanitarian workers, by humanitarian workers.

Our Road Safety Program (RSP) course is based on the globally recognised Roadcraft standard of advanced driving, and in keeping with the latest research and development on how to effectively educate and motivate drivers. The Advanced Safe Driver Training (ASDT) course provides participants with the sustainable knowledge, skills and motivation to safely, efficiently and comfortably convey passengers and goods in a light vehicle through a variety of urban and rural road and traffic conditions. The Qualified Driver Trainers course (QDTs) can deliver the Advanced Safe Driver Training (ASDT), with certification provided by TGS. This lowers training costs, provides flexibility, and enables on-going development.

QDTs are qualified for three years, and will receive ongoing technical support, a full course package, and access to ASDT online training modules.

Both the ASDT and the QDT are referenced and accredited on Roadcraft: The Police Driver’s Handbook, and recognised by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The Road Safety Program has been shown to significantly reduce road crash risks, and is the only safety-focused driver training developed specifically for humanitarian agencies operating in moderate to high road safety risk environments.
